The initiative by Hope Raisers aims at opening community dialogue on the role of arts on positive social transformation and active youth participation
To create a safe and vibrant street life, the street acts as public spaces that nurture spontaneous, optional and necessary activities.
The street is the basis for young people experience of cities, in informal settlements and urban environments the street have mixed uses including the arts and various activities that take place and which support making public spaces.
There is a great feeling among the young people to use open space for identity building and hence the idea of talking walls was conceptualized.
Korogocho in its essence has come to lime light through arts and this has been driven by the mind of the young people both in the streets and community at large, through various intended activities, like:
• Sport(Roller skating)
• Music, cultural dance, instrumental music.
• Drawings, painting and beads making.
Public spaces such as the streets are not viewed as mechanisms and tool for social integration and development, but it will be a place to promote skills, intelligence and talent.
